Unturned is light next to most survival games, so what decides your plan is the map and the plugin list rather than the number of people online. A vanilla map with a group of friends is comfortable on Basic at 2 GB and 100% CPU. Add a large workshop map and a stack of Rocket plugins and Starter's 4 GB is the safer floor. Roleplay servers running an economy, vehicles, and a busy database are what the 6 GB and 8 GB tiers exist for. Slots are unlimited on every plan, so you are paying for capacity rather than headcount, and you can move up a tier later without losing the world.
You can deploy in Utah, Frankfurt, or Singapore. Pick the one closest to most of your players rather than to yourself, because the extra 100 ms an ocean adds turns into delayed hits and rubber-banding for everyone on the wrong side of it. Checkout preselects the region nearest whoever is ordering, and you can change it before you pay.
Both run on every plan and the panel's plugin manager handles either one, so the choice is about which ecosystem you want to live in. Rocket has been the Unturned standard for years and most published plugins and community guides still target it, which makes it the safer default if you are following someone else's setup. OpenMod is the modern rewrite with real dependency handling and its own growing library, and it is the better base if you intend to write or commission plugins of your own. Run one or the other per server rather than mixing them.
The installer in the panel searches all 116,000+ Steam Workshop items and installs them for you, so there are no file IDs to paste into a config and no FTP client involved. Install a map, set it in the properties editor, restart, and everything your players need downloads on their side when they connect.
FakeIP routes players in through a Steam relay, so your machine's address never appears in the server list and there is no IP for an attacker to aim at. It is the default and the right answer for most communities. RealIP gives the server a normal address for the plugins and third-party tools that need one, is offered on our Frankfurt location, and needs your own Steam game server token before the server will list publicly. Either way the network mitigation underneath is the same.
